Carnforth Choral Society sings Vivaldi and Gilbert and Sullivan
Spring concert in Bolton le Sands on May 11
Vivaldi met Gilbert and Sullivan when Carnforth Choral Society returns to Bolton le Sands village hall for their spring concert on May 11 2013.
Antonio Vivaldi took over the first half of the concert with Gloria – a 12 item performance. The second half of the concert had a lighter note with a selection from Gilbert and Sullivan including three songs from the Gondoliers.
There was also a performance of Allegro Vivace from John Rutter’s Gloria, the concert finishing with the rousing “Down by the Riverside” arranged by John Rutter.
Musical director was Martin Webster and accompanist, Richard Bromley with soloists Sue Richardson and Lorna Sherrin.

Concert dates
Joint Concert with Guisborough Salvation Army Band. This is in Warton Parish Church at 7.30 pm on 21st September. The concert is being organised by Carnforth Rotary Club in aid of 2 local charities. The CELLAR Club run by the Salvation Army for young people in Carnforth andDonna’s Dream House which is a Holiday home in Blackpool for terminally ill children and their families.
Christmas Concert, URC, Christ Church, Broadway, Bare, Morecambe LA4 5BJ 14th December at 7.30pm.
Spring Concert 10th May 2014 at 730pm – details to follow.
Future events:
Coffee Morning 24th October Bolton le Sands Village Hall LA5 8DW 10.00am for the public. All the usual stalls and attractions with a few songs from our members as well.
Carol singing for Cancer Care, Leighton Hall 4 December –To be confirmed.
Leighton Hall Concert 8 December at 7.30pm. This will be in aid of a local charity - which we have not yet chosen.
Nazareth House, Lancaster 19 Dec 7.00pm –
Tesco Stores, Carnforth 21 Dec 11.00am –
We have also been asked to sing at a Wedding in Beetham Church on May 31st.

Christmas Concert 2012
The concert was held in the URC, Christ Church, Broadway, Bare Morecambe in December 2012
The choir sang 9 Christmas songs including the Star Carol by John Rutter, the Birthday carol by D Willcocks and Stille Nacht (arr. D Cashmore) which we sang in German. Wendy sang five numbers and also led us in O Holy night by A Adam.
The programme also included six popular Christmas songs where the audience joined in.
