CARNFORTH CHORAL SOCIETY
Choir rehearsals are held on Thursdays from 7.15pm to 9.30pm from early September to about the end of April at Our Lady of Lourdes Church Hall, Carnforth, Lancashire LA5 9LR. Our year is split into two terms for rehearsals - the spring term from January to May and an autumn term from September to December.
Our public concerts are given in or near Carnforth shortly before Christmas and after Easter. They offer a wide repertoire of musical styles and material. We have a library of over 200 pieces of music and new pieces are added from time to time.
There is usually an additional Christmas charity concert, currently held at Leighton Hall during December. Sometimes there is another charity concert held in the second term.
We have also been singing in Nazareth House for one evening around Christmas for several years.
There are about 55 existing members and new members are always welcome. There is no audition process.
We are a friendly, easy going , mixed bunch , nearly house trained, so why not give us a go?
Singers can join the choir at any time during the musical year and there are no auditions, or stipulations about being able to read music, although it obviously helps to some who can. Seating is by mutual agreement within the voice sections (first soprano, second soprano, alto, tenor and bass), with occasional input from the music director.
As soon as you become a member of CCS, we will ask you to pay the current term's subscription (£15 in 2012-13), or pro rata if the term is already under way. Funds raised in this way, by ticket sales for non-charity concerts, and by occasional raffles at rehearsals and concerts, are used to cover the running expenses of the choir.
